Turquoise For All Seasons

A client had a pair of turquoise, pearl, and gold earrings that she wasn’t wearing. She also had a turquoise necklace she really liked, and wanted to update the design of that piece as well.

We looked at the earrings and the necklace together, and I immediately saw that we could combine the earrings and the necklace into one unit. An easy way to do this is to change the earrings into enhancers, which can be worn along the length of the necklace, or on a chain as a pendant. We chose to enhance the necklace itself.

In order to do this, I had to find the right type of gold clasp to attach to the back of the earrings. The clasp had to be easy to open and sit well on the necklace.

The final result worked out beautifully, and since the client is living in a warmer climate, she’ll be able to wear this necklace and enhancers often. The color really stands out in the spring and summer, but a necklace like this can be worn all year long.

TIP: As we get into warmer weather, it’s time to take out your statement necklaces. Make sure you wipe them down a chamois cloth or a jewelry cloth after you take them off so that the natural oils from our bodies don’t discolor the beads.
