Moving? time to Re-Assess Your Jewelry As Well

I often work with professional organizers here in New York City. I have also recently expanded my network and joined the national chapter of NAPO, the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals.

Professional organizers will contact me when their clients are preparing for a big move, either within their home state or to a new one.

Those sorts of life events often help you declutter and re-evaluate the items you own. During this process, you may come across one or several pieces of fine jewelry that you don’t wear anymore and aren’t enjoying to the fullest extent.

That happened with a client of mine who uncovered a pair of Tahitian pearl earrings alongside a matching necklace while getting ready for a move.

The stunning necklace and earring set of round matching Tahitian pearls had an excellent luster, with a deep grey body color and purple hue. Though they were beautiful, she simply didn’t enjoy wearing them.

She also found a pair of gold cufflinks and a gold bangle bracelet. When she found those items, she contacted a professional organizer to help determine her next steps. Then, that organizer contacted me to sell those items.

First, I met with the client to collect the pieces of fine jewelry. This was a few weeks before their big move to another state.

After meeting with her, I took the pearl necklace and gold pieces to several auction houses.

Once we received an acceptable offer, we placed the two items on the June auction.

Then, I took the golf cufflinks and bangle bracelet to auction houses. After receiving a few offers, we ultimately decided to sell these two items for gold value as gold was quite high at that moment.

During this process, my client completed her move out of New York. This wasn’t a problem though, as I regularly work with clients from all across the country. Most of what I do can be done virtually.

New York City is home to many of the premier fine jewelry auction houses in the entire country. Even if you don’t live in the city, state, or even on the East Coast for that matter, you can still benefit from this extensive network.

TIP: When you have gold to sell, be aware of the daily price of gold. The value is constantly fluctuating, so before you go to sell it is essential to understand what you will get from the buyer on that given day. This is especially important if you are planning to move and sell a large amount of gold at once.

Contact me with any questions.
