Custom Continuum Ring

One of the many great aspects of custom fine jewelry is that it is all about you.

From the design to the stones and setting, the possibilities are endless when working with a designer to create your next piece of fine jewelry. The best part: You don’t need to be face to face with your designer. It can all be done virtually.

Recently, a long-time client of mine contacted me to create a one-of-a-kind sapphire and diamond continuum ring while she was out of the country.

Diamond and Sapphire Gold Ring - JB Jewels

We began by looking through several designs to gather inspiration. To keep all of this in order, I was happy to create a side-by-side comparison document to share with my client.

When we finalized her design concept, I then created a silver sample to send to her across the country so she could physically try it on. That step was essential, as it ensured the proper sizing and fit of her ring.

Once my client approved of the silver sample, she sent it back to me and I began the process of selecting the diamonds and sapphires.

This important part of the process required keen attention to detail, as each stone must be selected by hand and laid into the ring to ensure a perfect fit.

Even if a stone is off by half of a millimeter, it will not be a perfect fit. And the slightest imperfection will show.

Luckily, this is one of my favorite parts of the process, as I enjoy looking through fine gemstones.

As shown, these were the parcels of diamonds and sapphires that I chose for the ring.

Once the stones were selected, the ring and parcels were sent to the setter. This particular ring was extremely difficult to set, as the continuum design is looped the entire way around the ring.

My client flew into New York City, so we could finally meet in person and I could deliver the ring. It was created as part of an anniversary gift, and she was thrilled to show it to her husband.

The extra time to set the ring was well worth it, as my client loves the look of infinite diamonds and sapphires.

TIP: When you work with a fine jewelry designer, you can make all of your jewelry dreams come true. You can create something you would never find in a store, either for yourself or a loved one.
