Every Diamond is Unique

Diamond Necklace created from an inherited pendant, by JB Jewels

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with a long-time client who also happens to be an incredibly talented photographer.

She mentioned to me she was coming to New York for a photoshoot, and I told her we should get together again.

During her brief time in the city, we discussed how I can transform her inherited diamond ring into a brand-new pendant to match her diamond earrings (photographed below).

Inherited diamond ring to be turned into a custom necklace by JB Jewels

Since this was a traditionally cut diamond ring that she inherited, it had an older-cut style that looks quite different from diamonds that are cut today. This is due to the advancements in the diamond cutting process that are currently available.

When it came time to create her necklace, I carefully selected the smaller diamonds that surrounded the larger center diamond to perfectly complement each other as far as color, clarity and cut.

Here is where my skills as a diamond grader came into play, as it was essential to find older cut diamonds that complimented the initial piece. The resulting diamond necklace looks perfect all together.

She also requested a specific length for her chain. I found an unusual link that complemented her diamond pendant, and created a custom chain for her necklace.

Though she was only in the city for a few days, it was great to reconnect with a long-time client and help her to transform her inherited diamond into a custom necklace she can wear and fully love.

TIP: Even though diamonds don't spoil, no two diamonds are alike. Knowing the age of your diamond helps in custom-creating your next piece of jewelry.
