Boxes of Plenty
I'm lucky to be considered a resource for daily money managers.
Recently, I was called in to review an estate and went through boxes of jewelry and various items from the collection.
We found gold and silver that could be sold, with the proceeds going to the heir of the estate.
Since there were no female relatives in the family to inherit the jewelry, I was asked to sell as much as I could from the collection.
I was pleasantly surprised to find gold and silver jewelry from the estate, as well as a Geneve watch (pictured), with a gold case.
We sold these items and I was happy to give the proceeds to the family.
I also found real pearls. Unfortunately, an issue with pearls at the moment is people just don't want to buy them.
However, I always suggest we redesign the piece or even consider giving them as a gift to a young woman approaching a coming-of-age milestone, like a sweet 16 or graduating high school or college.
My client's mother also had lots of pins, as you can see from the photo below.
Some were costume, some were silver, and some were gold.
Again, my job was to sort through the collection and determine how to best sell each piece.
Finally, I found several gold earrings.
It doesn't matter what size estate you have.
In total, this collection had 66 pieces of jewelry to be evaluated.
Whether you have 6 pieces or 600, you will likely find value in appraising your estate, which may also motivate you to redesign or sell some pieces.
TIP: You'll never know what you have in your collection until you have it reviewed. In most of the estates I evaluate, I find valuable items for my clients.
What can I evaluate for you?
