Celebrate Earth Day: Upcycle Your Diamonds!
Symbolic of truth, faithfulness, nobility, and heaven, sapphires have been loved for their breathtaking color for centuries. They have been worn by royalty and members of the clergy, and were once believed to protect their owners from harm and envy in ancient Greece.
Reinventing an Heirloom for Today's Elegance
Carrie Bradshaw notoriously wore the engagement ring Aidan gave her around her neck rather than on her hand in Sex and the City. But what happens if you inherit a diamond engagement ring and don’t want to just string it on a chain around your neck?
This is exactly what happened with one of my clients who inherited a ring that she knew she was never going to wear.
Recreating a Beloved Ring
Sometimes in life we must part with sentimental items. At times we regret what we did.
Whether you are downsizing for a move, purging your space, or just trying to get rid of things to declutter, you may choose to sell some of your fine jewelry items.
This was the case with one of my long-time clients. While on vacation with her husband, she mentioned a ring from her grandmother that she no longer owned multiple times and how she would love to have it recreated.
Letters in Gold
I’ve had my own business for over a decade now. Through all of my networking, I have met many wonderful people. Even when these people move out of the New York area, I remain in touch with them. This is such a case.
Family Gold Redefined
What do you do with your inherited jewelry when you don’t want to sell it? You know you want to wear it somehow, but the current design doesn’t suit your style.
Simple! You redesign it into something you’ll love to wear. This situation happened with one of my recent clients. She inherited a watch fob from a gentleman in her family and loved the unique link design. She had the idea to turn it into a bracelet which she would get much more wear out of.
2023 Retrospective
I’d like to thank everyone who has supported my business this year. It has been an absolute pleasure helping you create your favorite pieces of jewelry, evaluate your tasteful collections, and sell breathtaking estates in New York City and beyond.
Choosing the Right Diamond
Everyone deserves a diamond that they truly love. This is what I tell all of my clients. While not all of us are lucky enough to inherit a diamond, we all have the option to create our own custom engagement ring.
Recently, a client came to me looking to do just that for his girlfriend.
Has This Ever Happened to You?
Isn’t it great when you hear from people from your past? Most of the times it’s for happy news. But in this case, it was just the opposite.
As some of you may have experienced, there are nefarious people out there who will try to rob others of their nice things. An old client of mine recently experienced just that.
Sapphires: September's Peaceful Birthstone
Symbolic of truth, faithfulness, nobility, and heaven, sapphires have been loved for their breathtaking color for centuries. They have been worn by royalty and members of the clergy, and were once believed to protect their owners from harm and envy in ancient Greece.
Let Your Style Speak for You
My mother always looked put together. Back in the day, women put a lot of effort into looking well coordinated by matching their handbags and shoes. She taught me to do this, and I still coordinate my outfits to this day.
While I don't always coordinate with exact colors, I like to match the tone of different pieces, especially when it comes to jewelry. You can just ask my husband!
When You Know You're Ready to Sell
After a divorce, it's common to have certain pieces of jewelry you know you will never wear again. Whether you decide to redesign or sell these pieces, there are several options on how to move forward.
Recently, a Trust & Estates Attorney asked me to help one of his clients with such a project. She had a beautiful Columbian emerald and diamond ring and a classic pair of princess-cut diamond stud earrings.
Rubies: July's Prized Birthstone
Symbolic of love, power and youthful energy in Indian jewelry, rubies are loved for their color and hardness; second only to diamonds. It is also the birthstone for July.
Diamonds and Technology
Thanks to modern technology, you don't have to set foot into the diamond district to purchase a fine diamond any longer. The entire complex process now can be expertly handled entirely online.
Why Diamonds?
Diamonds are a true wonder of nature. For over millions of years, they were formed deep beneath the Earth's surface. Each diamond has a unique dodecahedra crystalline structure and its own brilliance and fire, making it one of the most coveted gems in the world.
Reviving Unworn Jewelry
When it comes to jewelry, we all have those pieces that we just don't wear anymore. They sit in our jewelry box with the thought that we will wear them someday, but never do. That's where jewelry redesign comes in.
Every Diamond is Unique
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with a long-time client who also happens to be an incredibly talented photographer.
She mentioned to me she was coming to New York for a photoshoot, and I told her we should get together again. During her brief time in the city, we discussed how I can transform her inherited diamond ring into a brand-new pendant to match her diamond earrings.
Navigating the Jewelry Industry
LinkedIn can be a great way to connect with new people. Recently, I connected with a client on the platform who was helping her mother sell her engagement ring and wedding band set.
Because I post my stories (like this one), she saw the type of work I do for my clients and organized a meeting between the two of us.
From Inspiration to Diamond Hoop Earrings
It's always a pleasure to build a long-term relationship with my clients and work with them on multiple projects. One such client had a pair of diamond stud earrings that she wanted to turn into a more interesting design.
We discussed the possibility of making a hanging earring, adding extra diamonds to enhance the single diamond stud, or simply upgrading her diamonds to a larger pair. Instead, we did something entirely new.
From Stick Pin to Diamond Necklace
Some projects are worth walking across town for. Being a New Yorker, sometimes there are delays in traffic and you have no other choice than to just walk.
A client of mine recently reached out about several pieces of jewelry she wasn't enjoying. She asked how I could help.
First, I sold some gold. Then, I restrung a strand of pearls. She also showed me a diamond cluster pin she wasn't wearing and wanted to know what she could do with it.
