A New Ring from Recycled Diamonds

by Jane Becker on December 2, 2019

Have you ever owned a piece of jewelry that you absolutely loved but couldn’t wear?  Sometimes the most beautiful piece of jewelry isn’t really wearable.  It may be heavy, or too large or small, or simply isn’t comfortable to wear.  One client of mine had such a problem… she had this beautiful art deco bracelet that pinched her skin and made it impossible to wear.  But she didn’t want to lose out on the opportunity to wear such beautiful diamonds.

After seeing what I have done for other clients by way of my monthly newsletters, she thought of me as someone she could trust with this treasured item.   So she came to me with this challenge – make a wearable piece out of these beautiful gems.  We decided on a ring and set out to design something she could wear comfortably.

I had the diamonds removed from the bracelet and we played around with placement designs.  When we were happy with our idea I had a rendering made.  Once the client could see a visual representation she realized that the ring we had designed would be too wide.  So we removed the outer edges of the design for her comfort.

The final ring is exactly what she wanted and is something she can wear on a daily basis!

Tip:  When creating a custom designed ring for yourself, don’t forget to consider the size and weight of the overall design before going in to final casting.  You wouldn’t want to end up with a ring that you can’t wear!
